harmonic balancer PULLY

Postby White Lincoln » Sun Jan 16, 2011 1:49 am

Now that I have traced the wobbling pully down it being bent somewhat, where do I get a NEW one? I realy don't want to go down to the yard and get one off a used car since a new one should not cost much compared to a used one.

I looked around and found plenty of harmonic balancers but no pullys. Any ideas?

Just watch that you get a stock size one. Most of the commonly available crankshaft pullies are underdrive types, which require a different belt.

I did not see any that look like the factory one. Thanks though. I appreciate the suggestion.

Re: harmonic balancer PULLEY

Postby White Lincoln » Sun Jan 30, 2011 7:30 pm

Well, one of the guys on the board was nice enough to send one to me off his van. It had the same numbers as mine so I put it on and pulley does not wobbler as much as it used.

Thanks to everyones input.

BTW: My Check Oil light came on this afternoon so I went to look when the next time it was to change the oil and I was about 200 miles before it was due, so I went ahead and changed the oil and filter too.

Where is the oil level on the stick with 5 quarts in it?

Yep, keep it quart ABOVE the fill line. No wonder my Check Oil light would come on from time to time. SOB.

Maybe next time I go the yard, I am taking my dip stick with me and start looking for one that is marked higher than mine. That is so retarted.

And yes, I drained the oil from BOTH drain holes.

How about filing a full mark, after an oil change? I just keep mine about 1 qt high(on the factory stick).

I had a dipstick in my Towncar that had marks filed on it. It came from an 89 Grand Marquis. I think the one in the Mark is actually where it should be, or close enough that I don't notice it as a problem.
