Who has the fastest Mark VII?

Postby U LOST » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:41 am

Wondering who has the fastest "STREET" Mark VII on air suspension, factory interior, A/C, etc.. in the country? I've seen a few in the 11's but none in the 10's so far..

Henry Anton recently broke ten in his fully loaded and highly modified 5.0L, normally aspirated "Mean MK7".

Image

Several club members were present when he broke into the high 10's.

He drove the car to the track and home again.

At one time, I had a long list of modifications made to the car. Frankly, I don't race anymore and some of the mods were unfamiliar to me. I haven't seen Henry since the Fab Fords show in 2011, so I'm not sure what he has done since then.

What I can tell you is that Henry has modified (or has had modified) almost every part on this car with the proviso that it looks like a Mark VII and retains the creature features of the car, including the air suspension, although, highly modified.

I have met some of the folks/companies involved in the modifications to this car and they are the best of the best. ($$$$) We have also had conversations about how he was going to shave several OUNCES from here and there in an attempt to get it into the tens.

Henry is not interested in communicating online and has no aptitude for it, simply his personal interest in creating this car. He is not interested in impressing anyone, just a personal goal to create something special. Indeed he has.

I wish I had those specifics, but I don't. I have been around the car on numerous occasions and consider Henry a friend. Our conversations are usually not car related as he has, what he has. Henry is many years my senior and extremely knowledgeable and apparently relatively affluent.

He developed a Watts Link and was intending to market it. A beautiful specimen resides under his car, however, I was asked not to photograph it as he was in negotiations with Shelby. That's about all I can tell ya until I see him again in a month or so. (Hopefully)

That's a great looking car, the wheels too(and I don't like many aftermarket wheels). It looks very much Lincoln, and super clean, well taken care of.

I hope to get there some day, but it takes a lot of personal time, money, and research to find out what can be done. I see a turbo in my future, the Mark VII is relatively easy for that project.

I wrote an article a few years ago when he was toying in the low 14's. Obviously, more "stuff" has happened since then. This guy doesn't stop until he's got what he wants. I am told that he has acquired another go-fast Mark since I've spoken to him. I can only imagine....

yep, I read that article the other day after I had asked about any more info on the car. if you happen to cross paths with the Mean Mark again, would you let us know if he put a roll cage in it? I would say from him trying to keep it a concourse as possible, he may not have one, but i'd like to see what hes using to run 10's.

Thank you Art.

I am having a hard time finding those wheels on the web.

They look perfect in my opinion. Unique, elegant and sporty at the same time. I do think they look the best on a black car, but still I wonder how much they cost, for curious to see how they would look on my car.

They aren't bad, but I prefer less spokes and much beefier spokes. I saw an American Racing "Shelby" model on eBay last week, it is close to what I might like. It looks much like a "Cobra R" wheel, still spokes that are a little too thin for my taste. The 94-97 Cobra wheels are the best so far for me.

Be sure to check on the weight of any new wheel you might buy. Don't get one that makes the wheel/tire weight go up by much, say 10lbs. Keep it close to the original light weight.

I was looking around fir ROH zr 6 rim in 18' but they are absolete. They only made 17s too.
Next in line is Roh ZS . I had them on my 88 back in the day for a little while and they looked great too, but they too only came in 17.

I found this rim yesterday which I think is perfect . Looks stock but slightly bigger, giving me a chance to upgrade brakes and get better tires.
